 DESCRIPTION

 Manages the planning, creation, testing, implementation and maintenance of an efficient Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS) that is leveraged by all City business units. Leads the definition and deployment of GIS architectures and governance, develops and implements GIS standards, defines processes to ensure conformance to GIS and IT standards, and promotes clear and consistence architectural vision for GIS in the enterprise.

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.

 For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.

 Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and will receive full credit for the amount of time employed.  A minimum of 15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.

 Minimum Qualifications

 EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology, GIS, Computer Science or related field.

 EXPERIENCE:

Seven (7) years of experience managing an GIS operations and infrastructure projects/ activities which must have included the following: Developing and implementing GIS architecture and governance standards.

 AND

 Three (3) years of experience in a technical role which must have included supervisory/ management of technical/GIS staff.

 EQUIVALENCY(IES):

A master's degree or higher in specified field plus six (6) years of the required experience which includes three (3) years of technical supervisory/management experience will meet the stated education and experience requirements.         

 OTHER REQUIREMENT(S):

No felony or class A misdemeanor convictions.

No class B misdemeanor conviction within the last ten (10) years.

No family violence convictions.

Cannot currently be on deferred adjudication for any felony, class A misdemeanor or class B misdemeanor charge.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY(IES):

Extensive Knowledge of technology trends in order to support current and future enterprise opportunities and solid understanding of current and emerging technologies

Thorough knowledge of City organizational structure as it relates to IT and GIS

Organizational and problem-solving skills

Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, city officials, vendors, other government agencies, other stakeholders.

 

PREFERENCE(S):

GISP, ITIL, PMP or any IT certification is desirable
