Position: GIS Manager

Department:  Public Works

Salary: $48,641 - $59,264/annual                                                                                                                                                                                          


The objective of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager is to coordinate all facets of the citywide geographical information system.  The person filling this position will coordinate and manage the City’s GIS development, implementation, operation, maintenance and training of all appropriate personnel.  The GIS Manager will also represent the City to external agencies.



  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or equivalent school/work experience.
  • Four (4) years’ experience with ESRI’s software suite including ArcMap (preferably ArcInfo), ArcSDE   for SQL Server, and ArcGIS Server 10. 3 or higher.
  • Two (2) years’ experience with ArcSDE for Microsoft SQL Server database administration, relational database design, and implementation related to GIS and enterprise databases.
  • Knowledge of design, coding, testing, and implementation of traditional, object-oriented, and web-based GIS applications.
  • Web design experience is highly desirable (i. e. , HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, on Apache and

IIS server platforms)

  • Experience in advanced editing and cadastral editing tasks in ArcMap.
  • Experience with advanced graphics skills (Raster & Vector), CAD, computer mapping, and cartography.
  • Valid State of TX driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Experience in supervision of personnel.
