Job Title:       Field Mapping Technician

Position Summary

Responsible for directing mappers and preparing Hazard/Access Maps to assist the Survey Crews and the

Recording crews

Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for preparation of Hazard/Access maps for use by survey crew and recording crew

Performs routine and complex technical mapping and field data collection Works with many software applications to achieve the desired product Must have knowledge and adhere to all safety policies

Other duties as assigned

Essential skills and experience:

Strong computer skills and attention to detail

Knowledge of the latest GIS software and hardware including ARCGIS, MapInfo, Global Mapper, etc. Must have previous experience as a mapper

Must be able to correctly operate high precision survey equipment and create a hazard/access map Must be conversant with the use of a computer for mapping using various mapping software packages Driver’s License and clean driving record required

Strong commitment to company values

Must be able to multitask and handle several projects simultaneously

Read printed materials, and communicate in person and over the phone or radio.

Physical demands and work environment:

Extensive walking of up to ten (10) miles per day or more, caring GPS/GNSS survey equipment requiring agility and flexibility of movement. Tasks may be performed in an outdoor environment with widely varying temperatures and often adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time while frequently carrying survey equipment and accessories that may weigh up to 50 pounds. Position requires mobility to work outdoors as well as indoors in a standard office setting and to use standard mapping equipment, including a computer. Job locations are on a temporary basis and change frequently.
