GNSS - Cost $50
Tuesday March 11th 8am - 12pm

Overview:

If you are currently using GNSS (GPS) equipment for data collection then please join us for this in depth course on the ins and outs of GNSS. With all the new GNSS technology that has been introduced over the last several years it’s important to stay up to speed. GNSS is only as accurate and useful if it used correctly. There are techniques that should be taken will capturing data with GNSS to be able to achieve the desired results for High Accuracy Mapping and Surveying. This course will explain those techniques as well as explain how we record accurate GNSS data as well as the sources of errors and how to avoid and correct for them. It’s not enough to just stand there and record a position, simple techniques can get your data where it needs to be.

Coordinate Systems “Holy Shift, What Coordinate System do I use?” - Cost $50
Tuesday March 11th 8am - 12pm

Overview:
Every day Mappers and Surveyors are lining up data on a map or in a database and every day the concern comes back that data was take inaccurately in the field. As this can be the case, most of the time that data was recorded precisely but the coordinate systems and datums are not the same match. As our accuracies within our GNSS receivers increases it becomes more important to use the correct systems and datums. This class will teach the history of the coordinate systems and demonstrate how data can be affected by simply changing to what you “think” the correct coordinate system and datum choice.

ArcGIS Mobile with Trimble Positions for High Accuracy Data Collection - Cost $50
Tuesday March 11th 1pm - 5pm

Overview:
ArcGIS Mobile is becoming and up and coming means for data collection allowing for real time collection and updates into the GIS. Adding Trimble Positions to ArcGIS Mobile will allow for data collection in high accuracy mode. This course will teach how to capture data from start to finish with preparing the data, deploying the data, capturing high accuracy GNSS positions and then uploading to our GIS. The class will have class and field work.

Ground Penetrating Radar & 3D Laser Scanning- Cost $50
Friday March 14th 8:30am – 12pm

Overview:
Often there are times we need to find buried objects. Whether we are looking for buried pipe, utilities or even sometimes human remains we need to be able to do this effectively. With GPR we can easily move over the surface of the ground and can easily find where soil has been disturbed. This class will teach us the understanding of GPR, the methods for finding buried objects and understanding the data readout.

3D Laser Scanning is widely used for project where precise data collection is needed. This data is collected as a point cloud made up of thousands of points and with this data a 3D image can be created. This course will teach the principles of 3D Laser Scanning, setting up a project, setting up a scanner, taking a scan and processing the data. The class will have field work.
